Overview
CIS Tender 7 – NEM Generation is complete. Outcomes have been announced by the Australian Government, subject to contract execution between project proponents and the Australian Government.
The Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy has selected 19 projects, which will provide 7.8 GW of renewable generation capacity to the NEM. The selected generation projects are expected to deliver over 1.5x the 5 GW tender target. Eight hybrid projects were selected which will provide 7.9 GWh of storage.

Benefits of the selected projects
Collectively, the selected projects will provide enough power to supply over 4 million households in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Successful projects demonstrated strong local community and First Nations engagement against the assessment criteria, with meaningful contractually binding social licence commitments. The selected projects are expected to deliver around:
- $504.6 million of shared benefits for local communities.
- $678.7 million worth of initiatives for local First Nations groups.
- $257 million in Australian steel.

CIS T9 – NEM Generation
CIS Tender 9 is seeking an indicative target of 5 GW of renewable energy generation across the NEM.
Registrations and bids will open on Monday 25 May 2026. Proponents unsuccessful in CIS Tender 7, or in other CIS tenders, are encouraged to consider bidding in CIS Tender 9.
Registration is essential for Proponents to be able to submit a Bid in this Tender.
About AEMO and ASL’s role
AEMO and ASL have been engaged to support the roll-out of the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), bringing together expertise in energy markets, modelling and infrastructure finance and procurement.
ASL administers the competitive tender process and makes recommendations to the Australian Government on which projects should be awarded CISAs. The Minister for Climate Change and Energy is the ultimate decision maker on which projects are successful.
