Overview

SA FERM Tender 1 is complete. Six projects, representing 1,334 MW / 5,336 MWh have been awarded Firm Energy Reliability Mechanism Agreements (FERMAs) following a competitive tender assessment process. The 6 projects, all lithium-ion battery projects, will provide 517 MW / 4,136 MWh of Committed Output Capacity.

About this tender

SA FERM Tender 1 opened on 20 October 2025 and sought a maximum of 700 MW, split across three categories corresponding to the respective target commercial operation dates (COD).
